For our thriller opening we chose idea 2 because we felt it was the more do able one to do and we could get the better shots from it. Also, after our pitches this was the idea that the audience prefered. We want there to be a lot of shots of the location and setting around the place that we have chosen to build mysterious and atmospheric tension. By using pans or zooms in or outs that blend or fade into the next shot for flash backs, we felt it could create tension and lead to unanswered questions. We like the idea of having a sunrise to show that time is passing and to speed it up so that the sunrise does become quicker and to split it up by having the opening titles cross fade into it. The mise-en-scene of the thriller opening that we are doing is to be dark but for some features to have connotations with a thriller opening. We like the effect of it being dark and dull to help towards the mysterious feel to it. For the music we want a soundtrack that is very atmospheric and slow to go with the pace of the shots that we have. We like the slow pace after watching The Country For No Men, this film gave us inspiration towards how the overall outcome of our opening could be. Another way for us to build tension is going to be in the close ups to see facial expressions and to show how the girl has no way of escape from the people who have captured her. But we want there to be a lot of unanswered questions at the end of the scene for the audience to keep on watching.
